PGL Major Stockholm 2021 may change its seat at any time
PGL Major Stockholm 2021 may change its seat at any time.
The Valve-sponsored tournament was announced six months ago as the first world since 2019, but with the retreat of the Swedish government, the Major could suffer the same fate as The International 10 and move to another country.
This Tuesday (13), the Swedish portal SportExpressen published a note where Silviu Stroie, CEO of PGL stated that "time is running out" for the Swedish government to give its opinion on whether or not to make the Major.
"There is no new development. We can decide at any time to move it from Sweden. We are still hoping to get the exemption we requested to bring in players, but there is no indication whether this will happen or not," said the organizer's CEO to the portal.
The Swedish government has announced that it has not recognized The International, the Dota 2 World Cup, as an elite sport. Due to this decision, players and fans would be unable to obtain the necessary authorization to enter the country, due to the pandemic.
At the moment, Valve has not yet commented on the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and how it is communicating with the Swedish government for the realization of the event.
